Marci Klein M.D. is an NYU trained clinical and academic pediatrician with over 20 years experience in early childhood development, education and social/emotional heath. She transitioned into education 4 years ago, joining her two teen children, the original founders of 3DuxDesign cardboard modeling system after seeing the incredible response from both educators and students, Dr. Klein now creates a wide range project-based learning resources for children learning both in the classroom and at home. Her curriculum focuses on real-world problem solving, blending the arts with traditional STEM education to inspire the next generation of innovators.

Session description

The Team STEAM mentoring program began as a remote engineering club started by high school sophomores with a goal of supporting elementary students during COVID through mentorship, friendship and fun, and hands-on STEM activities. Schools may be back, but Team STEAM is expanding. We will showcase our experiences.

Purpose & objective

The Team STEAM co-founders and high school students will share examples of their projects and lesson plans, showcase student projects and share program director, parent and student feedback from STEAM program experiences

This poster session will highlight how teen-lead STEAM mentoring programs can be easily implemented and support youth STEM skills and social engagement as well as build teen leadership, organizational and communication skills.
