Session description

Like teaching, coaching must be customized. In this session, we'll explain how we implemented a school coaching program, and explore options so you can create a model that supports your school culture, goals and teachers, and get your administration on board.

Purpose & objective

Instructional coaching has been linked to improved teacher and student outcomes. Participants will learn how we adapted an existing coaching program and created a successful, ongoing one-to-one coaching program that meets our school needs. They will explore the options of various coaching models (for example, Google Certified Coach, SMART [Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound] goals, FUEL coaching model, Jim Knight’s Definitive Guide to Instructional Coaching, and/or Powerful Learning Community), see the resources these programs provide, and discover how they can implement a customized one-to-one coaching program to support their school and district goals. Participants will leave ready to begin crafting their own customized coaching program.
