Session description

Children need moderated spaces to practice interacting with civility online. Join us as we prepare educators to use technology to help students communicate with respect and empathy. We’ll share best practices that’ll empower you to turn on those communication settings in edtech tools such as Seesaw, Flipgrid and more.

Purpose & objective

Participants will be able to…

Understand the overall importance and need of teaching our youth to engage appropriately in online settings.

Learn best practices for using edtech tools for students to participate in civil discourse.

Teach strategies such as TAG (tell, ask, give) feedback or Thoughts, Questions, and Ephipanies (TQE) to students to positively engage with peers online.

Help students understand the responsibility of perspective-taking and empathy when engaging with others online.
