Session description

Expand your classroom walls by using virtual reality-based virtual field trips with experts and augmented reality. Learn about a variety of resources that allow your students to collaborate with experts and gain meaningful experiences. The internet is global, and kids deserve opportunities to experience all that it can offer!

Purpose & objective

Participants will learn how presenters have used the resources in a K-12 setting in different subject areas, and be given resources for participants to save and utilize in their classrooms.

Participants will learn the benefits of using virtual reality, augmented reality, and virtual field trips.

Outline

Participants will experience Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality apps and websites. These apps and websites will include Google Street View, Google MyMaps, Nearpod, 360cities, Discovery VR, Google Earth Voyager and more.

Participants will receive resources on Virtual Field Trips, and how to participate and find the experts to engage within their classrooms. These resources include Center for Interactive Learning and Collaboration, Skype a Scientist, Mystery Skype, Appear.in, Skype and Zoom.

Time:
Virtual Reality: 15-20 minutes
Augmented Reality: 5-10 minutes
Virtual Field Trips: 15-20 minutes

During the presentation, participants will have full access to the session hyperdoc. This contains all of the resources, a description and how we utilize it in our classrooms. We walk them through virtual reality sites experiences and have them follow along with us to show the ease of the tools being presented.
