Digital Learning Initiative Section Chief
Ashley McBride, Ed.D., is a digital learning leader for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.She has experience as a secondary English teacher, instructional technology facilitator and director of technology. McBride has led districtwide professional learning and statewide initiatives that help promote the effective and safe integration of technology for administrators, educators and students. In addition to her work with the state of North Carolina, McBride serves on the board of the North Carolina Technology in Education Society (NCTIES) and is also a COSN Certified Educational Technology Leader. She holds a doctorate in educational technology from Central Michigan University where she researched technology-related professional learning and educational technology coaching. Her experiences in K-12 education and her research in the field informed her 2021 ISTE-published book, The Edtech Coaching Primer: Supporting Teachers in the Digital Age Classroom.
Lindsey Sipe is the Southwest Regional Consultant in the division of Digital Teaching and Learning for the North Carolina Department of Instruction. Lindsey also in the manager for the North Carolina Digital Learning Initiative Grants that focus on funding school districts innovative approaches to digital teaching and learning. Prior to working for NC DPI, Lindsey worked in a school districts as a teacher, technology facilitator and administrator.

Purpose & objective
Join us as we discuss everything you need for finding and writing grants to support digital teaching and learning. Since 2017, North Carolina has been providing schools with grant opportunities focused specifically on bringing innovative practices into the classroom. Participants will walk away with grant ideas and implementations that have been successful, an understanding of how to find grants that fit their needs, the materials needed to write a successful grant, and tips for making sure your grant finds its way to the top of the funding consideration pile.

We will begin by focusing on how since 2017, North Carolina has been providing schools with grant opportunities focused specifically on bringing innovative practices into the classroom. We will share and crowd source grant ideas and share stories of implementations that have been successful. We will spend time collaborating, building and networking to build a deeper understanding of how to find grants that fit each individual districts or schools needs and share out with polling and collaboration tools. We will work together to share materials needed to write a successful grant and pair up based on district/school needs to and tips for making sure your grant finds its way to the top of the funding consideration pile.
