Christine served as a high school social studies teacher and as a secondary instructional coach at LAUSD since 2006. In 2015 Christine obtained a doctoral degree in education specializing in Teacher Education in Multicultural Societies at USC and also served as a social studies faculty advisor at UCLA’s Teacher Education Program. Christine is committed to personalizing student learning through purposeful integration of instructional technology and collaborating with teachers and students. She is a Google Certified Trainer, ISTE Certified Educator, and Common Sense Certified Educator.

Session description

We'll unpack how you can use digital portfolios as an assessment tool that empowers students to choose their own learning trajectory with NGSS and computer science.

Teachers will have an outline of how to integrate digital portfolios in any content area.

Outline

Students will showcase their culminating project for physiology. They will show the process through which they choose the health issue they wanted to focus on, research and creation of their health campaign. Including collaborating with computer science to create a physical model that incorporates coding. Students will showcase their project and explain to participants their reflections from the start of the project, through the end. Teacher will share templates, Standards and resources for participants. There will be a padlet available for participants to ask questions or request further resources. Will also have a video on loop that will include snapshots of the process of the project from all students involved (not just presenters).
