James is also a Google for Education Certified Innovator, Google Earth Education Expert, and a member of the ISTE Community Leader group. Ashley Cooksey(she/her/hers) is the Director of the Technology Learning Center and an adjunct instructor at the University of Central Arkansas. She is also a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Ashley is a member of the Arkansas Association of Instructional Media and is chair of its leadership development and public relations committees. She was awarded the Pat McDonald Outstanding Individual Achievement Award from AAIM in 2019 and the Technology Leader of the Year Award in 2021. Ashley was named an AASL Social Media Superstar, Advocacy Ambassador, in 2018. She is an ISTE-U Future Ready Librarianship course leader.

As librarians remain at the forefront of school communities, there are many questions around our roles. Technology integration. Book challenges. Fostering a love of reading. Information literacy and more. We’re here to answer your questions! Join us for an interactive conversation with teacher librarians from around the country!

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this conversational session will help to answer questions around the various roles of librarians and libraries in the ever-changing landscape of K-12 education. Objectives will include:
naming and clarifying popular myths around school librarianship
Describe and celebrate what is possible with strong school libraries
address current challenges around intellectual freedom
share resources while focusing on the future of libraries and librarianship
Collect live feedback on what help and support school librarians need the most
