Session description

Technology is intricately woven into the fabric of our daily lives. It's important to consider how media will continue to impact our kids’ mental, physical and emotional development. We'll investigate the connection between digital wellness and CASEL’s social-emotional competencies, and explore how to embed these skills into our schools.

Purpose & objective

All schools are experiencing challenges related to student's use of social media and cellphone distraction. Participants will know how to best support students' development of digital wellness and positive social-emotional skills as it relates to our interconnected digital world. Participants will experience research-based resources and strategies for enacting a systemic approach for building a school-wide program that instills positive digital habits. This session will highlight the successes experienced by the Greece Central School District's work towards developing these skills and incorporating the parent and school community using The Social Institute's Win At Social program.
