Session description

You’re invited! Visit an innovative Philadelphia charter school for a morning of interactive workshops. You'll hear from teachers about their projects, get hands-on training in a variety of apps and create something new in the “Pop Up Classroom." We'll explore ISTE Standards and meet student entrepreneurs and inventors. String Theory Schools 1600 Vine Street #8th Philadelphia, PA 19102 This experience is an off-site event. Transportation is not provided to the location.

Purpose & objective

This presentation will expose attendees to many creative methods for the use of technology in the classroom and various strategies to transform school environments.

Attendees will see an aviation simulator, pastry/baking program, and a student-run cafe. They will meet students and a teacher who partnered with Project Invent to create a tool to help the visually impaired. They will make products in a variety of creation apps and see student work samples.

Andrea Long-Project Invent
In this session, you will learn how to incorporate MicroBit into your STEM/Science curriculum using ISTE standards.
Participants will learn about the country-wide fellowship I joined this year, called Project Invent. This year’s challenge is to invent something that aids someone with vision impairment.
Technology Pop Up Classroom-theatre
Inspired by Apple’s event at ISTE 2019, this 60 minute immersive program will expose you to technology that will uplevel instruction in your classroom. Explore String Theory student and teacher-led stations with your teams. You will see exemplar student work, get a hands on tutorial, and create your own products in these creative apps.

In this session, you will learn how to use ISTE standards to assess student work from grade 3 to 12++.
