Starr Sackstein is a recovering perfectionist who is an assessment reforming enthusiast. She is the COO of Mastery Portfolio, an Edtech Startup committed to helping schools move to Standard-Based communication. She works with teacher teams to engage students in learning, advocate for personal growth, and effectively use student data to drive instruction. She was a high school English and journalism teacher for 16 years, a lead Humanities learner for two years, a publisher and developmental editor, and social media manager. ASCD has had a leadership development program for 15 years that allows educators to develop knowledge, skills, talents and networks to flourish in their current roles or prepare them for the next steps in their careers. Learn more about the program from a few of our 500 alumni.

Purpose & objective

The presentation on ASCD Emerging Leaders aims to showcase the importance of supporting emerging leaders in education and inspiring them to make a positive impact. The objectives include emphasizing the significance of identifying and nurturing emerging leaders, encouraging underrepresented groups to pursue leadership roles, promoting networking opportunities, and providing resources to support their leadership journey.
