Session description

Based on their recent book, Equity in Data: A Framework for What Counts in Schools, three co-authors will present 12 "Equitable Data Principles" that educators and data practitioners can use to center equity in their work. Participants will learn about the principles and have opportunities to apply those principles.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this presentation is to raise awareness among educators about the importance of equitable data practices in education. The objectives are:
1. Introduce educators to the principles and guidelines for equitable data practices in education.
2. Illustrate how data can be a powerful tool in addressing educational inequities and closing achievement gaps.
3. Explain how the role of data helps with decision-making to promote equity in education.
4. Emphasize the role of data in informing evidence-based decision-making to promote equity in education.
