Session description

In this session, authors of Digital Literacy Made Simple will discuss strategies for integrating digital literacy into your curriculum. Using the habits of mind, as well as established teaching strategies like integration, modeling, mentoring and building a learning culture, participants will consider ways in which they can integrate digital literacy.

Purpose & objective

In this session, attendees will learn about the four corners framework for teaching digital literacy that is shared in the ISTE book, Digital Literacy Made Simple: Strategies for Building Skills Across the Curriculum. The presenters will explain the framework and share examples of the simple ways the framework can be woven into a teachers’ day and a school’s culture.

Based on the four corners framework of digital literacy:

Session attendees will write a professional learning goal for teaching digital literacy.

Session attendees will describe how they can teach digital literacy in simple ways.

Outline

Content and activities:
First: the session presenters will share about the four corners framework for teaching digital literacy that is shared in the ISTE book, Digital Literacy Made Simple: Strategies for Building Skills Across the Curriculum.
Second, attendees will share with their neighbor how they can use the four corners framework to teach digital literacy.
Third, attendees will write a professional learning goal for teaching digital literacy based on the four corners framework.

Time:
Presentation: 15 minutes
Sharing: 10 minutes
Writing a professional learning goal: 5 minutes

Process: Presentation, think/pair/share with the sharing being done on a Jamboard, professional learning goals can be shared on a Jamboard as well.
