Event Information
The goal is to model the one-third digital content and tools, teacher guided instruction, and peer-to-peer active engagement within the 60-minute session.
Introduction: 7 minutes
Briefly introduce the concept of a balanced blended learning environment (digital content, teacher instruction, and student engagement).
Show a brief video with students positive reactions to blended learning.
Use a poll or digital survey tool for participants to share initial thoughts on their factional allocations of technology, teacher-guided instruction, and student engagement.
Digital Content & Tools: 10 minutes
Discuss the importance of digital tools in fostering student agency and accommodating learner variability.
Word cloud activity where participants input digital tools and resources they currently use or plan to use in their classrooms.
Teacher-Guided Instruction: 15 minutes
Introduce how playlists, choice boards, menus, and small group instruction can personalize learning while supporting guided instruction.
Facilitate a peer-to-peer “High Five” conversation: Participants quickly pair up and share one way they guide instruction in their classrooms.
Peer-to-Peer Engagement: 20 minutes
Highlight how peer collaboration, project-based learning, and the 4Cs (communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking) play key roles in student engagement.
Small group challenge: Each group outlines a mini-lesson that incorporates peer engagement, and they share their designs with neighboring group.
Wrap-Up: 7 minutes
Encourage participants to reflect on the one-third balance model and they can implement it in their own classrooms/schools.
Participants input their key takeaways in a digital reflection through a shared digital whiteboard.
Blended Learning Models: Numerous organizations have shown the benefits of blended models:

Integration of digital content and tools highly supported by the ISTE Standards for Students and Educators @ https://iste.org/standards - plus the numerous tech integration frameworks such as SAMR, TPACK, PIC-RAT
Active engagement strategies are seen in many resources:
