Event Information
Using activities I successfully implemented with pre-service teachers, I will provide a model for engaging educators in closing the digital divide and responding to the call to action in the National Educational Technology Plan.
I will share interactive resources with statistics about the technology access in school districts across the United States and guide participants in researching the state of the digital divide in their community. The poster will include digital templates which attendees can copy and utilize in their own sessions. After reviewing the statistics, attendees will be able to explore best practices for closing the digital divide, including school-based initiatives and community-based projects. The poster will include examples of how to encourage educators to take action in their classroom and community, which participants can adapt for their setting. Finally, participants will interact with each other by sharing their own approaches to engaging educators in closing the digital divide on a digital whiteboard.
