Session description

The Technology and Innovation Academy empowers educators to integrate technology aligned with our district's "Portrait of a Learner," fostering engaging learning experiences. Participants engage in professional development and collaboration to design innovative lessons that promote our vision. This session explores creating a similar academy to enhance teaching across districts.

Introduction (5 minutes)
Establishing an Innovation Academy (5 minutes)
How did we recruit teachers
What were our objectives
How does this fit with our district learner objectives.
Activity (5 minutes):
- Brief reflective exercise where participants identify current gaps in their district. Via padlet
Developing a Technology Integration Action Plan (10 minutes)
- Aligning with the "Portrait of a Learner" and ISTE Standards
- Define the "Portrait of a Learner" and how it guides our district’s technology integration.
- How the Technology and Integration Academy fits into this Action Plan
Activity (5 minutes)
- Small group discussions on how technology can meet the needs of students based on their district's learner profiles.
Designing Innovative Lesson Plans Using Technology (15 minutes)
- Toolkit Overview
- Provide an overview of the templates and frameworks included in the resource toolkit.
- Walk through examples and explain how to customize these resources for different districts.
Incorporating Digital Tools for Deeper Learning
- Showcase examples of lesson plans integrating digital tools.
- Discuss how to promote critical thinking, engagement, and deeper learning.
Closing & Reflection (5 minutes)
- Summarize the actionable insights and resources gained during the session.
- Reflect on how participants will apply what they've learned.
- Final reflective exercise: Participants write down one immediate action they plan to take after the session.

- Address any remaining questions or concerns.
