Session description

Experience a 60-minute immersive session that models highly effective instructional practices and strategies. Participants will dive into a self-paced, game-based lesson to master the Modern Classroom Project (MCP) framework while focusing on Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Discover practical strategies to implement MCP in any learning environment!

Outline

1. Introduction and Immersion (10 minutes)
Content: Brief overview of the session objectives and MCP framework.
Engagement: Immediate immersion into the ‘game’ with a quick, engaging activity.
Activities: Participants answer a quick poll related to the MCP framework to check in to the game and earn a game card. (Tracker)

2. Station Rotation Model Exploration (30 minutes)
Content: Participants explore different stations, each focusing on a specific component of the MCP framework.
Engagement: Hands-on activities at each station to learn and collect evidence.
Activities:
Station 1: Interactive multimedia presentation on MCP framework principles.
Station 2: Group discussion and brainstorming session on applying MCP in various settings.
Station 3: Practical exercise to create a lesson plan incorporating MCP framework.
Station 4: Peer-to-peer interaction and feedback on created lesson plans.
*Game-Board Style Tracker: Participants follow a game-board style tracker to move through the stations and collect evidence.

3. Exit Ticket and Mastery Demonstration (5 minutes)
Content: Quick assessment to demonstrate understanding and mastery of the MCP framework.
Engagement: Participants complete an exit ticket.
Activities: Digital quiz, short reflective writing, or product of their choosing on key takeaways. (Learner Choice)
Breakout Access: Participants turn in their completed game-board style tracker to gain access to the ‘Breakout’ exit ticket.

4. Collaboration and Sharing (15 minutes)
Content: Participants collaborate and share how they will incorporate the MCP framework in their settings.
Engagement: Open discussion and sharing session.
Activities: Participants use a collaborative Padlet wall to share strategies and insights and foster connections beyond the session.
