Session description

How can we infuse smart learning environments with elements that spark genuine joy and motivation across diverse learning contexts? Moving beyond technological novelty, we'll examine pedagogical and cultural dimensions that transform digital learning spaces from merely efficient to truly inspiring, with examples from a diverse range of global educational settings.

Outline

1. Opening remarks by Prof. Asha Kanwar introducing GSENet and panelists. (5 minutes)

2. Core principles of smart learning environments by Prof. Ronghuai Huang: Defining foundations and characteristics of effective smart learning environments and the importance of motivation and engagement in digital learning contexts. (10 minutes)

3. Practical applications and global perspectives. Each panelist will present a case study or real-life example, highlighting implementation challenges such as technology access barriers, balancing innovation vs equity, policy impact and creative low-resource solutions from diverse contexts. (30 minutes)

4. Discussion and Q&As from the audience, moderated by Prof. Huang. (10 minutes)

5. Key takeaways and closing remarks. (5 minutes)
