This workshop examines the vital role of Latina leaders in Northeastern education, addressing their underrepresentation and systemic barriers. Using Brene Brown's Dare to Lead, we'll explore how courage, vulnerability, and empathy can empower Latinas to overcome challenges and integrate their cultural identity to foster inclusivity.

Presentation Outline: Elevating Latina Leaders in Education: Empowering Through Equity, Cultural Identity, and Courage

1. Introduction & Context Setting (10 minutes)
Content: Overview of Latina underrepresentation in Northeastern educational leadership and the significance of diverse perspectives. Introduction to Brene Brown's concepts of courage, vulnerability, and empathy.
Engagement: Brief interactive poll or question to gauge participants' experiences with leadership diversity.
Process: Use of presentation slides to provide context and visual data.

2. Reflective Journaling on Cultural Identity and Leadership (10 minutes)
Content: Participants reflect on how their cultural identity influences their leadership style and decisions.
Engagement: Individual writing activity.
Process: Provide prompts and time for participants to write in their journals; encourage personal reflection with guided questions.

3. Counter-Storytelling Circle (20 minutes)
Content: Participants share personal leadership stories and discuss challenges and successes through counter-storytelling.

4. Integrating Cultural Identity into Leadership (20 minutes)

Process: Facilitate a discussion with breakout groups to share strategies and ideas; use whiteboards or digital collaboration tools for listing strategies.

5. Application of Brene Brown’s Principles (20 minutes)
Content: Application of Brene Brown’s principles (courage, vulnerability, empathy) to Latina leadership challenges.
Engagement: Interactive activity to apply principles to real-life scenarios.
Process: Guided activity where participants identify ways to incorporate these principles into their leadership practices; use case studies or role-play scenarios.
