Session description

You're not on your own–you can face this! Explore the transformative journey from sparkling teacher to rockstar EdTech Coach. We'll delve into the differences between teaching Gen Alpha & coaching Boomers to Gen Z, as well as principles of adult learning and effective edtech leadership strategies.

Outline

Join me on a dynamic journey of professional reinvention, tailored towards educators looking to transition from the classroom to educational technology. This session will explore the path from teacher to coach, integrating insights from generational studies, adult learning theory, and the ISTE Standards for Coaches. I will share my own success story, as well as those of others who have made the transition to EdTech Coach. The session will conclude with time for interactive discussion and Q&A.

Introduction (5 minutes)
Personal introduction, overview of session content, and my personal relationship to the topic

Introduction to Generational Differences (10 mins):
Overview of generational traits (Boomers to Gen Z) and their impact on teaching/coaching, focusing on the pros and cons of working with each generation.
Engagement: Small group activity where participants share their experiences with the different generations.

Adult Learning Principles in Coaching (10 mins):
How adult learning theory applies to professional development across different generations.
Engagement: Interactive reflection using Padlet on adult learning strategies participants have found effective.

Finding Your Voice (20 mins):
EdTech coaching strategies for fostering leadership in adopting technology across generational lines.
Engagement: Pair discussions followed by a whole-group share-out on overcoming resistance to tech integration.

Success Stories & Interactive Q&A (15 mins):
Personal experiences transitioning from classroom teacher to EdTech Coach.
Open Q&A for participants to seek advice and share their challenges.
