Session description

Embark on a creative journey through the streets of downtown San Antonio, where history and technology collide while we generate stories and art. Strolling past iconic landmarks and hidden gems, we’ll explore the city’s culture and folklore, using these as inspiration to create AI-generated artwork & stories.

Outline

This session will begin with a 10-minute introduction at the Convention Center, where we will provide an overview of AI art and its integration with storytelling, as well as a brief explanation of our walking route and key landmarks.

We will then walk to La Villita Historic Arts Village for the first stop, spending 15 minutes discussing how cultural and architectural elements can inspire digital art. Participants will be encouraged to capture photos and record their impressions on their devices, focusing on the vibrant local art and historic charm of the area.

Next, we will move to Hemisfair Park and the Tower of the Americas, a short walk away, for another 15-minute session. Here, we will explore how large-scale landmarks can be translated into AI art, with participants working in pairs to brainstorm themes and narratives inspired by the park’s atmosphere and iconic tower. They will create quick AI-generated sketches or visualizations using mobile apps.

Our third stop will be the Arneson River Theatre on the River Walk, where we will spend 15 minutes exploring how natural and urban elements can serve as story-driven art prompts. Participants will capture dynamic scenes along the River Walk and discuss how they might incorporate elements like water reflections or public performances into their digital art.

The session will conclude with a 5-minute wrap-up back at the Convention Center, where participants will share their AI-generated art pieces and reflect on their creative process and inspirations. Throughout the session, participants will engage in device-based activities, peer-to-peer interactions, and collaborative storytelling exercises to deepen their understanding of using AI for creative expression.
