Session description

Students will explain how they researched, designed, tested, built and programmed a pair of robotic hands they adapted to be able to communicate with deaf-mute people, providing a tool that creates a communication bridge with groups of people that have been unfairly excluded.

Purpose & objective

Purpose:
For students to build their own learning while being involved in solving the challenge of redefining teaching in a non-traditional way, taking advantage of technological tools reimagining and reinventing the way in which science and language are approached. As well as evaluating the possible impact on the lives of other people who tend to be excluded.

Objectives:

To analyze and evaluate the design of a robotic hand, based on problem-solving.
To explore and select computer vision programming languages and designs.
To analyze, assess and learn the natural movement of the hands.
To Investigate and learn the Spanish sign language.
To evaluate the results and propose a path to improve the original design.
Evaluar los resultados y proponer una ruta de mejora del diseño original.

Outline

Outline
The participants will be able to observe, interact, participate and verify the functionality of the robotic hands. To achieve this, there will be time during the session dedicated to interacting with the audience, where students will explain the entire process and will promote a space for participants to observe all the experiences obtained.
