Session description

Learn creative, engaging hands-on edtech and traditional tools to support social-emotional learning with students and self-care for educators which is more important than ever due to the pandemic. The therapeutic techniques don’t require great skill, are appropriate for any class, and aid in cultivating presence and connection.

Purpose & objective

Participants will learn how to actively engage students in mindful, relaxation through hands-on creative projects using a variety of tools. They will use a range of creative tools from classic approaches in music and theater like singing and improv with digital twists with Mote, Twitter, and Jamboard to free, online visual art apps such as Drawerings that allow students to create digital mandalas and tools like Adobe Express that allow students to create posters and videos about their mindful exercises to share with peers. In addition, we will also explore emerging technology such as AI and AR with SEL. We'll use the CASEL social-emotional learning framework as our guide and share the projects we create together as models that can be duplicated as evidence of success.
