Session description

With all the data that we collect today, it's important to know how to manipulate it without corrupting the original data. In this session, we will show how our students, teachers and coaches do this with Query, Important Range and VLookup in Google Sheets.

Purpose & objective

Participants will be able to begin to understand how important it is to preserve the original data collected before using and manipulating it. They will learn about different techniques and formulas to pull data from a source sheet including Query, ImportRange, and VLookup. Modeling will also be done regarding how to set up sheets ahead of time for students and also how to help students understand the importance of data and how to use it. Examples of some of the work we have done with students and staff members will be available prior to, during, and after the session on Ted's website www.ourtechcoach.com. Users will find resources not only for this session, but for other global projects that the team has worked on with educators around the world. Success will be determined by feedback surveys and anecdotal notes from conversation during the session.
