Our main goal each year is to be able to share our successful, creative use of Technology on such a big stage, so other teachers and students from around the world could also benefit from our experience.
The participants will learn how we worked together with schools from across the globe on the "Generation2Generation" project.
We have collaborated with various overseas schools for quite a few years, and the "Interactive Family Tree project" has been part of my curriculum for more than two decades. This time, we interwove both programs. With leadership and guidance of the ANU Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv, Israel, students from both countries engaged in this unique multigenerational global project. Partnering with an acclaimed museum affords a unique opportunity to expend students' research and communication skills.
The participants will be able to observe how we incorporated modern creative technologies to make this project successful: 360 degrees virtual platforms (CoSpaces, Spatial, EurekaWorld), ThingLink, Flipgrid, Google Earth Tour, Juxtapose, Deep Stories (using Artificial Intelligence) and many other tools, as well as online Genealogy programs "Ancestry.com" and "MyHeritage.com", as students actively engaged in researching their ancestry and history of the places their ancestors are from.
Attendees will have an opportunity to learn hands-on how to use these tools and incorporate them in their own curricula.
The presenters will be able share the process of gaining their technical knowledge, as well as the impact it had and continues to have on their families.
I will start our presentation with giving an overview of our project, explaining tools and ideas that were used. After 10 minutes, my students will take over engaging with the audience one-on-one. Each student will have an iPad for demonstration purposes in addition to the TV screen. Since the audience will change we would repeat the process as needed.
On their devices, students will share their Generation2Generation projects, breaking down them by component or program: Flipgrid, CoSpaces, Spatial, EurekaWorld, ThingLink, Google Earth Tour, Juxtapose and Deep Stories (using Artificial Intelligence). Students will give concrete examples of how these tools enhanced their ability to interactively tell their family story.
