Session description

Help your students escape mundane lessons by creating free digital breakouts to use in your classroom. Come learn how to use Google Forms and Google Sites to create free digital breakout games that encourage collaboration, stimulate problem-solving, nurture content knowledge development and have fun while doing it!

Purpose & objective

Purpose: The purpose of this session is to show educators how to create a digital breakout and how it can transform their instruction and assessments. It also helps with students taking control of their own learn, being engaged and thinking critically. This is what we are looking for in education right now...how can we teach the curriculum in new and innovative ways that help our students THINK through the content while also engaging them!

Objectives:
1. Participants will know how to use Google Sites as a digital way to give clues and have the digital breakout in one spot.
2. Participants will be able to create a digital breakout using a Google Form as the locks and as the clues and locks.

--Adding digital breakouts to teacher's instruction

Outline

Content and activities: -Audience will follow along creating their own digital breakout while I teach them about it (60 mins) or will have time to create one (90 minutes)

-Audience is encouraged to ask questions

Outline: 
Time: 90 minute session (can be modified to 60 minutes)
5 minutes: Introduction
45 minutes: Teaching Digital Breakouts interactively
20 minutes: Build Your Own Digital Breakout using the planning guide
10 minutes: Share your idea and plans
5 minutes: Questions and Answers
5 minutes: Closing and evaluation

Process:
-Throughout the session, the audience will be participating and will be encouraged to ask questions
-A Padlet will be used as a backchannel
