@KieraE_TX
Kiera Elledge is the STEM & School Library Coordinator for the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Independent School District. She holds a B.S. in Secondary Mathematics and a M.Ed. in Library Sciences and is currently working on her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. Her district’s partnership with their city libraries – HEB Reads! – has won several state and national awards for its innovative collaboration. Kiera enjoys a good crime novel, hacking her Cricut machines and any sport that involves a ball. Wrigley Field is her happy place.

Session description

In Texas, certified computer science teachers are almost impossible to find — especially in elementary. When we decided to expand computer science, our district designed a recruitment campaign, developed a training plan (with university experts) and started finding CS superheroes one classroom at a time. Learn how we are doing it!

Purpose & objective

Participants will review the scope/sequence and observe the alignment from K - 6.

Participants will view a sample training schedule and see results of first semester pre/post efficacy surveys.

Participants will receive a sample lesson plan showing the integration into the core content.
