Tyler Dufrene has been a STEM educator for 9.5 years. As a 2022 Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow, Tyler is spending the 2022-2023 school year working on Capitol Hill with the U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce. He conducted research with the Department of Defense, wrote over $124,000 in grants, and was elected to the Lafourche Parish School Board in 2018 at 25 years old—the youngest member in the history of the board. Tyler is a 2021 PAEMST State Finalist (national results pending) and was named the 2019 Louisiana Secondary Teacher of the Year from LACUE.

Cecelia is from New Orleans, La. She has four beautiful children. Cecelia is a certified coach for Pear Deck, EdPuzzle and Screencastify. Cecelia has presented at numerous conferences and has been featured in a publication to note how well her presentation was received by participants. She also was a Louisiana state finalist for the PAEMST in 2015 and 2019. She recently published a motivational children’s book that can be found on Amazon. The book is Black Girl, Black Girl you are AMAZING!She serves as the Region I Rep for the Louisiana Science Teacher Association.Cecelia Gillam is a proud graduate of Southern University A&M of Baton Rouge. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in Biology and General Science. She has been teaching science in a High school since 2005. With a zeal for learning and passion for helping others, she went on to earn her Master’s and is currently working on her doctorate in Educational Leadership at Southeastern Louisiana University. Cecelia has been named one of Louisiana’s State finalists for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science in 2015 and 2019.

Session description

Learn how to create more equitable experiences in the classroom by using the Modern Classroom approach. Coupled with Pear Deck, EdPuzzle, Flip, Screencastify and ClassroomQ, participants will walk away knowing how to create a more blended learning experience for their students and examine strategies to increase equity and inclusion overnight.

Purpose & objective

Educators will learn how to create a equitable learning experiences in their classroom for students from underrepresented backgrounds.
Educators will learn how to use Pear Deck, Screencastify, EdPuzzle, ClassroomQ, and Flip.
