Session description

Attend to get a lesson plan, complete with student worksheets and video links, to complete a social-emotional learning (SEL) lesson emphasizing digital safety and including 3D printed badges. This lesson guides students in creating a personal brand to present their best self online.

Purpose & objective

The purpose and objective of this lesson is to provide students with the social and emotional background they need to be able to show empathy to one another and project a positive image of themselves on social media. Before and after they complete the lessons and watch videos they will be given an SEL survey. This will provide some measure of the effectiveness of these lessons. They will also design a badge in the free tool TinkerCAD, students will download the badge as a .stl file and send it to the maker space for printing. Examples will be available to participants.

Outline

As participants gather, a short video of students working on this project will be presented. If participants want to try the lesson, I will have a QR Code for this Wakelet: https://wakelet.com/wake/X-x5oyIxomTrL7kYVSVyI. All documents needed to run this lesson successfully are available in Wakelet. Participants can spend as much or as little time as they want to complete whichever lessons they choose. This lesson is usually completed in three 45-minute classes, but students can spend up to another week of their own time completing the 3D design. I created the Wakelet so participants had a takeaway and did not feel rushed. I will answer any questions for as long as people need!
