Session description

Building curiosity and wonderment in our students is essential to an engaging STEAM classroom. This session will focus on strategies and activities that can be facilitated by the STEAM teacher to build questioning skills in students as well as a sense of curiosity that can drive problem-solving and creativity.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this session is to explore strategies related to inquiry-based learning and how these strategies are applicable in the STEAM classroom. Inquiry-based learning can support many skills needed to problem-solve, another valuable strategy used in STEAM classes. students are often not used to asking questions in order to learn, and there is often a negative stigma related to asking questions. Using applicable strategies, students can learn to embrace questioning and develop deep questions that support enhanced learning outcomes.

Participants will:
-Share their strategies used to build inquiry with students
-Evaluate strategies for their effectiveness to build inquiry skills with students
-Design activities that support the development of inquiry with students
