Cindi is a former high school CS teacher, standards author, curriculum developer, state and national presenter, former industry programmer, web developer and technology business owner, and CSTA Board member. She is an adjunct professor of computer science education at Touro University Nevada and currently serves as the Assistant Director of CTE and IT programs at the Nevada Department of Education. She has traveled internationally to support CS educators in Europe and Africa and with her degrees and industry experience in CS, business, education, and administration, Cindi is uniquely positioned to evaluate and re-design innovative systems in education for the benefit of all students everywhere.

Janice is a clinical assistant professor at Arizona State University. She is on the research team of two grants involving technology and computational thinking. She was on the writing team of ISTE's computational thinking competencies, CSTA's CS teacher standards, and worked with the ISTE team to develop the CT microcredential. She is honored to have been recognized with ISTE's Making IT Happen and Advocacy awards.

Session description

We will explore how to build a community to support CS teachers. Every component of the resources is aligned to CSTA Standards for CS Teachers, which delineate the knowledge, skills and competencies required to implement effective and equitable K-12 CS instruction but written specifically for those with little background in CS.

Purpose & objective

- Share implementation strategies to scale use of resources that are aligned to the CSTA Standards for CS Teachers that support administrators, instructional specialists, and teacher leaders. These resources are designed to provide evidence-based feedback and promote the ongoing development of CS teachers at their schools.
