Session description

Pinterest may help you create a pretty classroom but it won’t make it inclusive. That cursive love learning Bitmoji class does nothing for your first-graders who can’t read it. We’ll dive deep into how to design learning spaces and lessons that are functional, accessible, representative and aesthetically pleasing.

Purpose & objective

The Participants will be able to:
Understand the purpose of inclusive design and how it serves broader instructional needs
Learn the basic principles of functional design
Create engaging and accessible lessons/assessments
Utilize a range of learning design tools
Receive resources and templates for better instructional and classroom space design

Outline

We were planning a 2-hour playground broken up into 3 40 minutes sessions. That is 18 regular sessions across 6 tables each with its own Design theme (equity/representation, accessibility, color design, etc.). One stage zone will be dedicated solely to physical design projects (making), and the other will involve design authors.
There will also be visual design charts posted throughout.
