The purpose of this session is to enlighten educators to the variety of methods for distributing content to students and parents outside of a PDF or Google Doc. The variety of methods presented promote creativity, inclusion and accessibility, and communication in a wide range of outputs. By modeling these behaviors to their students, educators will be able to support students using these tools as well.
- Participants will understand how to create a collection of resources in Wakelet.
- Participants will practice creating a custom banner for their collection in Canva for Education.
- Participants will explore adding video to a collection using Microsoft Flip.
- Participants will learn how to add previously created resources to the collection through Google/Office integration.
- Participants will preview learning tools for accessibility such as Immersive Reader.
1. Participants explore a previously created Wakelet collection as a sample. Participants' attention is called to the tools integrated into the collection and are guided to see the accessibility and sharing features they can utilize. (5 min)
2. Participants create their own Wakelet collection as a sample to participate in the session. This collection can be around any theme or topic. This can be done with any device with an internet connection. (10 min)
3. Participants add a custom graphic to their collection through Canva for Education integration. There may be a short discussion around why personalization matters to students if time allows. (10 min)
4. Participants record a short video using Flip to introduce the topic to their students. Participants are guided to see how video tools enhance their students' access to content, personalize the experience, and include more options for inclusion. (10 min)
5. Participants see a demonstration of how to include previously created resources - in Office 365 or Google Suite - in a collection. (5 min)
6. Participants practice accessing Immersive Reader within their collection to improve access to the content for any reader. (5 min)
