Teachers participating in the TI Tech@MIT inspired sixth graders to become Agents of Change through an innovative PBL grounded in Jewish Values and 21st Century learning. A thoughtful collaboration between Jewish studies, art, science, humanities, and Makerspace culminated in a community showcase.
Through this project, students explored Jewish values connected to their topic and began seeing their Jewish identity as central to who they are. Attendees will learn how to inspire student connections in any subject. Participants will learn practical ways of including community members to inspire students’ creativity, including reaching out to the greater community to foster an exchange of ideas. Discover how we created this innovative project that applied concepts and knowledge learned across the curriculum and became a model of positive, transformative teacher collaboration in our school.
See how sixth grade students engaged in a year-long project focused on agents of change in our society, empowering and encouraging them to become agents of change in their own communities. Learn how teachers in different subject areas came together to create an in-depth, cross curricular project, bridged the gap between our students and community members, and inspired students to tackle real-life problems. Join us to learn about our process for developing, implementing, and managing a grade level, student driven, year-long project.
