@mony.mey
I’ve been teaching since 1995. During the last years I have been interested in Developing High Order Thinking Skills in my students through a variety of activities in classes that involve different subjects.

Session description

Discover how students created an immersive experience using Minecraft. Students constructed their own learning using an interactive digital game in which they make Mexican art and history research into a realistic display. Students used their own criteria to research and explain what painters expressed through the Mexican muralist movement.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of the presentation is to transmit the importance of the Mexican Muralist Movement and how it was the platform used to express inconformity about the social injustices and what the Revolution had promised.
The objective is to create an immersive experience to reach the purpose but also to raise awareness of the needs in education, learn how to work in cross-curricular projects where each student is accountable for their input and contribution to the final outcome.

Outline

The presentation will consist on showing how students were able to create learning materials. The audience will participate by engaging in a virtual museum tour displaying the Mexican muralist movement and the motives behind it after the revolution.
We will start off by giving the virtual tour to the audience for 10 minutes.
On the second part of the presentation students will explain their biggest challenges while using Minecraft to create their museums and how they overcame them, they will talk about the process (research of topic, design and art) that they went through to achieve the expected outcomes. After the students present, the teacher will talk about the process of his own and how he could facilitate the conditions for students go through it. Lastly, the audience will solve a mural puzzle chose by them to wrap up the experience.
