Megan Johnson is a middle school instructional coach and former middle school English-language arts teacher. She is a member of her school's leadership team as well as part of the Aspiring Leader program for her district. She is a member of her district's professional development division, Educators Empowering Educators, or E3. She earned her Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Piedmont College in 2021. In her free time, Megan enjoys reading mysteries, shopping, and spending time with her husband, 9 year old son, and miniature dachshund-Mollie.

Diane Trantham is a nationally certified STEM educator specializing in middle grades science, math, and technology. She currently serves as a school based instructional coach. During her time as an educator, Diane has presented at multiple conferences and is a member of her district’s professional learning team. She has also contributed to state-wide curriculum changes including math and science standards. In her free time, Diane enjoys kayaking, baking, and spending time with her husband and three sons.

Session description

This session will explore student motivation! We will give you tools that can be used right away to increase engagement and encourage students to not just comply, but dive in and use their natural curiosity to lead to authentic learning and student success.

Purpose & objective

Attendees will learn what motivates students and will also learn techniques and strategies to incorporate student curiosity to drive instruction and experience student success.
