Session description
Participants will learn how to empower their students to create and design visual graphics, edit and record videos, and create a podcast using various tools and platforms.
Purpose & objective
Participants will learn the why behind enhancing creativity in the classroom. We will discuss the research, purpose, and need for allowing students various opportunities to be creative in their learning journey. Participants will engage in meaningful conversation and develop a plan for transforming their classroom instruction into a student-driven environment where students have voice and choice and creative outlets. Creating on a Chromebook is easy and simple. Creation "helps to synthesize information and brings joy and meaning into the educational experience". Participants will see and hear ways that we have been able to engage students with opportunities to create through graphic design, video projects, and even podcasting. We will briefly share our journey of identifying student strengths in order to personalize the learning options for students. Teachers will know they are successful when they have created and implemented lessons that students enjoy and value. As educators, we must continually work to assure we are including the 5 C's in our lesson design. "Learning a new skill, collaborating, and creating something meaningful is satisfying, happy work."
Some of the tools that we use to demonstrate these activities are Thrively, Canva, Adobe, Wakelet, Social media, Flip, Anchor, and more.
