Session description

Come play with Nearpod at any level! Hands-on stations will focus on different activity-based assessments and approaches using Nearpod, keeping every student’s learning journey in mind. Take students on a VR adventure, use Collaborate Board for group discussion, try Time to Climb for gamified fun and more.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of the Get Playful with Nearpod Playground is to provide an active learning experience and meaningful connections between educators surrounding the creative ways Nearpod can serve every student.

Participants will explore developmentally appropriate opportunities to use technology to build out lessons with activities such as Draw It, Drag and Drop, Time to Climb, Collaborate Board, Interactive Videos, Virtual Reality, and more...all with student engagement in mind. By immersing themselves in this Playground, participants will be able to create Nearpod Activities to assess their students in a variety of student-centered ways.

The Playground will prove to be a success if educators walk away with new ideas for implementing Nearpod into their classrooms OR new connections with other educators who are looking for impactful ways to engage their students. While each station will focus on different Nearpod features, the conversations that will be facilitated will strive to cover universal topics like synchronous and asynchronous learning, differentiation, supporting ELLs and more. All levels of experience are welcome!

Outline

There will be activities facilitated by educators using interactive components of Nearpod at various stations. Participants can use their own devices to participate or watch and observe. These activities will encourage hands-on use of Nearpod, group discussion, and ideation. Additionally, each station leader will provide resources that will compliment their station’s takeaways.

The station leaders will all be teachers, coaches, or admin showcasing a specific way they use Nearpod and work collaboratively with Playground participants on building Nearpod lessons/activities of their own.
