Coaching & Mentorship Designer
Jenny is a highly motivated educator with a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and learning.
With a background in Visual Arts, Jenny moved to Ormiston Junior College in 2019, specifically to work in an ILE, where learners [and coaches] can engage in innovative, personalised inquiry-based learning.
It is her hope that all learners and educators, regardless of their educational context, have equitable access to learning opportunities and environments in which they can thrive - this belief motivates her to design innovative mentoring and learning programmes that engage both learners and educators to be their most vibrant, curious & creative selves.

Session description
How to use your passion, not your expertise, to design innovative learning experiences. We are not experts in the field of STEM, but we noticed that our young women weren't engaging with the range of digital technologies that we have on offer at school. Hear our story.
Purpose & objective
We designed a 7 week passion project to help reduce this inequity and grow their mindset, skills and dispositions in leadership and STEM fields. These are the same inequities that see women under-represented in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), with only 28% of the current STEM workforce consisting of women.
Join us to learn how we used the Microsoft 'action guide’ to help close the gender gap in STEM' to inform our pedagogies, learning experiences and outcomes. Using their research which pointed to five categories below for taking action:
Generate excitement
Provide role models
Provide hands-on experience
Provide encouragement
Encourage a growth mindset
We will share various feedback from students at the end of this project

Closing the STEM gap isn’t up to the students alone. It’s up to us — to change our behaviors, strategies and systems so that these classes and careers reflect the diversity in our communities.’
