As the Director of Professional Learning, Teena facilitates a nationwide virtual PLC for educators, and oversees a Science coaching program. She has worked in education for 20 years, and held the roles of Elementary Educator, Interventionist, Instructional Technology Coach, and WV State Technology Coordinator. In 2021, Teena was recognized by Digital Promise as 1 of 25 educators in North America as an HP Teaching Fellow for her work in EdTech. She also writes curriculum with ISTE and NGSS aligned resources, is an Ambassador to the USA Science and Engineering Festival, and is the WV State Google For Education Leader.

Session description

Rooted in outdoor learning, your students will experience digital growth. Together we will unearth how to balance “screen time” with “green time” with hybrid outdoor and digital experiential opportunities. No matter the device, you'll be equipped to innovate with STEM, while inspiring the next generation of thinkers and doers.

Purpose & objective

You will leave this session with:
-Ideas to apply standards to an outdoor experience
-Easy to use digital outdoor learning planning framework
-Methods to balance outdoor learning with digital applications
-Research based evidence
-Hands on opportunities that you can immediately apply
-ELA/Math technology integrative approach to outdoor education
-How to use the 5E model of lesson planning with the ISTE standards
-Free, already created outdoor lessons!

No matter the device your students use, you will be equipped to innovate in digital applications, while inspiring the next generation of STEM careers to grow, outdoors.
