Session description

Artificial intelligence, pandemics and rapid social change have us asking existential questions about the purpose of education, what we teach and our role as educators. In this session, find out how to use digital storytelling projects as a curricular framework, and leverage curiosity and passion as engines that drive learning.

Purpose & objective

This session frames learning through the lens of digital storytelling—as a scaffold upon which to hang our curricular skills and knowledge—so as to create a purpose behind learning, provide purpose, and leverage passion and curiosity to motivate students. These authentic learning experiences also address challenges faced by AI and other challenges in tech and society. We discuss how to design lessons as storytelling projects to do this, and how to transform existing lessons. The session will use case studies and activities to support these ideas. Digital resources provide additional ideas and inspiration.
