Integrator
James Charrel is Integrator at the Lycée français de New York. Convinced of the usefulness of VR and AR in teaching, since 2021 he has been studying the metaverse and trying to see the educational applications that teachers can make of it. He works with many teachers and several companies specializing in virtual worlds. A specialist in NFTs and web3, he is also interested in the possibility for the blockchain to change the face of education, in particular by giving all its players a new and more equitable place within the school system.

In those years I have taught students in 4th and 5th grade, worked with students in math and behavior intervention, and most recently, I am a 6th grade social studies, ELA and science teacher. Sylvain Malpaux spent his childhood in Paris and became a chemistry and physics teacher in 2004. After a first expatriation in 2010 in Canberra, he joined the team of the Lycée Français in Shanghai in 2012 and then worked from 2013 to 2022 at the Lycée Condorcet in Sydney. Material science specialist, he taught physical sciences, mathematics, biology and technology and held the position of coordinator of the science department. Subsequently, he completed two degrees in education accredited by the Australian government and became a trainer for locally recruited colleagues. Sylvain is particularly interested in new technology and computing.

David L Middleton with the use of the MIE Racing Program teaches students various elements of STEM to help develop the future wave of industry participants and leaders. The MIE Racing Program is a unique video based curriculum that combines sim racing with a well thought out applied STEM education. David has been in the automotive and motorsports industry previously and has seen a need to bring applied STEM into the classroom, supporting the disciplines learned in schools.

Dr. Muhsinah Holmes Morris is a BS chemistry graduate of the HBCU Clark Atlanta University. She obtained an MS & PhD from Emory University in Biomolecular Chemistry. She is an Assistant Professor of Education. Dr. Morris has been part of and Director of Morehouse’s Metaversity project since Spring 2021. Awards for Teaching Excellence at Morehouse College, Best Emerging Technology and Innovation from CBRE, First Place Unconventional Innovation in Industry by T-Mobile, and 2022 Educator of the Year by STEM Women Atlanta. She resides in McDonough, GA with her husband and five sons. More recently, she founded Metaverse United (unitethemetaverse.com).

This playground will offer educators a chance to engage peers using emerging technologies in the classroom. Virtual reality, simulations, machine learning, digital certificates, blockchain and more will be presented. Educators at all levels will be able to participate.
