Session description
Educators often prioritize the consumption of information by our students. It is insufficient for students to attain mastery in any subject. Merely consuming content without creating anything new does not allow for meaningful engagement with knowledge. Students who are encouraged to research, create or demonstrate their learning are more intrinsically motivated and develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter. This is crucial in social studies, where students must comprehend complex historical events, analyze social trends, and evaluate multiple perspectives. Allowing collaboration and content creation, including presentations, essays, and videos, students apply their knowledge and skills to develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter. It is crucial that we provide our students with opportunities to research, create content and actively engage with the material. This is an essential component of their learning journey.
