Kevin created Moment AR, the Augmented Reality tool for autism, mental health, language, and social skills. The app was co-created with his school psychologist wife and the app is evidence/research based, white papered, and patent approved with 3 patents on continuation. Recently Kevin has had entrepreneur success by the successful acquisition of his Augmented Reality company, Color Black. Kevin continues his career contracting for Disney/Sony and lecturer on Senior Software Design for California State University Northridge.

Jaime Donally is a passionate technology enthusiast. She began her career as a math teacher and later moved into instructional technology. Her desire to build relationships has created opportunities to collaborate with students and educators around the world. She provides staff development and training on immersive technology as an edtech consultant, and her latest adventures include Global Maker Day and #ARVRinEDU events. She’s also an author and speaker on the practical use of augmented reality and virtual reality in the classroom.

Dr. Lucretia M. Fraga earned a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching with an emphasis in Instructional Technology from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Dr. Fraga's research interest include the theoretical foundations for mobile and ubiquitous learning, emerging tools and technologies for learning, integration of technology by faculty and pre-service teachers, pedagogical practices for learning and professional development of faculty.

He is a Google Certified Educator, Trainer, and co-founder of the Michigan REMC RITS group. Andy is a two-time recipient of the ISTE Making It Happen Award for technology leadership. He is a popular, high-energy presenter at conferences and at Bureau of Education and Research seminars. He loves to help educators discover the immersive learning potential of the Meta Quest and other VR solutions.

James presents at local, state and international conferences on innovation in education, with a focus on 3D development, especially for augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). He also cohosts "The VR Podcast" discussing how immersion technology is impacting education and business.

Jon Spike serves as Coordinator of Instructional Technology at UW-Whitewater College of Education. He teaches courses in Video Games & Learning, Digital Tools, and Introduction to Education. Jon is also CEO of GamestormEDU, a company that designs educational games and playful experiences for teachers and students. His first game, Gamestormers, released this year. Jon is pursuing his doctorate in Educational Technology from Northern Illinois University, with a dissertation studying collaborative creation in head-mounted virtual reality. Jon also served as a high school English Teacher and Technology Integrator at the K-12 level before entering teacher preparation.

Session description

Visit the ISTEverse to experience the future of learning. You’ll discover immersive learning that leverage augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to create dynamic, interactive learning adventures and experiences. Wander through the ISTEVerse to experience the power of virtual, augmented and mixed realities and get a glimpse of the possibilities for using these experiences for learning. Using VR headsets and handheld AR devices, you will get a taste of existing, emergent and future applications that model new learning with spatial technologies.

Ready Room
First time in Virtual Reality? The Ready Room showcases First Steps for all to learn how to master their virtual environment.

VRcade
An immersive arcade featuring experiential learning with VR resources connected to core subjects and skill development. You’ll be equipped with a VR headset that will provide a 360-degree view of a virtual environment, giving you a realistic immersive experience. Try out these applications:

ARcade
Check out the ARcade for hands-on experimentation with AR resources and examples of educational uses for this technology. You’ll have the chance to experiment with handheld mobile devices as you explore educational content in a dynamic, interactive way. You’ll also experience how AR can be used to enhance classroom instruction and help learners visualize and understand complex concepts.

Hear from educators and developers who will share innovative practices using AR and VR technologies. Attend a presentation by educators who have implemented these instructional practices in innovative ways. Monday morning Connections schedule:
