Eric Carbaugh is a professor of education at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. As an educational consultant, he has worked with teachers and leaders at over 100 schools and districts on a variety of topics related to curriculum, instruction, and assessment. In addition to several articles and book chapters, he has co-authored of several books, including Building Educator Capacity Through Microcredentials; Designing Authentic Performance Tasks and Projects: Tools for Meaningful Learning and Assessment; and The Differentiated Flipped Classroom: A Practical Guide to Digital Learning. Eric holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology from the University of Virginia.

ASCD has worked with AT&T to develop their free, engaging, supplemental learning activities platform to help educators close the achievement gap. Learn more about how you can access and utilize The Achievery from AT&T to help your students learn from this unique online platform.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of the presentation on "Empowering Learners Through the Achievery: An Interactive Approach to Narrowing the Achievement Gap" is to highlight an interactive approach that empowers learners and addresses the achievement gap in education. The learning objectives are:
