Session description

Would you like to find better ways to empower your youngest scholars to create? First, discover easy ways to promote student agency using tech tools. Next, learn about Debbie's 3 Cs of Creation: Choice, Collaborative and Clickable, and see how technology tools can offer the 3 Cs to our littles.

Purpose & objective

65% of the jobs that our students will have in the future do not exist right now. We need to prepare all of our students for this future by promoting creation, collaboration and critical thinking in our classroom. It is never too early to give our students this foundation. This session takes that premise and offers primary educators simple and strategic steps that will cultivate both student agency and creation in primary classrooms.

After attending this session, participants will:
- Discover easy ways to promote student agency with our youngest scholars such as using icons to promote agency and the role video and rubrics can play in primary classrooms.
- Determine the best tech tools for their young scholars to create using Debbie's 3 Cs of Creation- Choice, Collaboration, and Clickable.

Tools shared will include Tech 4 Learning's Wixie, Book Creator, Pear Deck, Flip and Google Slides. Sample activities and a guide for implementation will be included.

Supporting research

This session is based on a BLC 18 talk by Pana Asavantana, https://youtu.be/LTrwcqvOWew, and my experiences working with littles that followed. Over the course of the past three years, I have implemented all of the work shared in my role as an educational technology coach at an elementary school. It is also based on my coursework as I prepare my ISTE Certification portfolio.
