How do you know if you are successfully integrating technology into your classroom? Come to this session and leave with a rubric that can guide your technology integration, evaluate teacher technology use and show best practices for technology integration.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this session will be to provide attendees with a tried and tested rubric for the evaluation of technology integration. This rubric will be show to (1) allow teachers self reflection; (2) allow for goal setting technology integration at the school level, and (3) allow principals or other leaders to evaluate technology integration.

Outline

1. Background information- why this rubric was developed. Many teacher education programs nationally utilize the NIET rubric for teacher evaluation. While a through rubric, it fails to have a guide to evaluate teacher technology integration.
2. Buiding of the rubirc- This rubric was built with stakeholder input and evaluated for reliability and validity
3. Utilizing the rubric- For initial implementation, the rubric was used at the higher education level through a methodical implementation plan. This plan is able to be easily replicated for schools and school districts.
4. Utilizing the rubric for more than evaluation- self study, self reflection, etc
