Jennifer Mahin is a K-5 STEM teacher and technology integration specialist at East Elementary School in Belleville, KS. Jennifer is a MIE Expert, a Flipgrid Trainer, and an Ozobot certified educator. Jennifer is a blogger who is passionate about rural education and the importance of STEM and CS in the K-5 classroom.

Session description

This session will provide ways for students to capture their knowledge in a STEM classroom and beyond. We'll unpack cross-curricular STEM lessons that provide voice and choice through different ways to showcase student knowledge.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this session is to provide ways for students to capture their knowledge in a STEM classroom and beyond. Participants will view cross-curricular STEM lessons that provide voice and choice through different ways to showcase student knowledge. Participants will be able to ideat how to use the concepts in their classroom by providing students with a deeper more meaningful way to showcase their learning.

Educators and coaches will explore a variety of technology tools and lesson examples to capture student knowledge in STEM.
Educators and coaches will discuss ways to provide voice and choice in the engineering design process.
Educators and coaches will articulate how it is necessary to integrate technology and STEM into other subject areas to build culturally appropriate STEM equity and access.
