Session description

Does your school spend thousands of dollars on technology? How do you determine if it is making a positive impact on learning? We will take a look at a complete process to evaluate technology, including committee, technical and instructional feedback to give a true picture of how technology is impacting learning.

Purpose & objective

By attending this session, attendees will be able to
- walk away with a complete FREE process of how to evaluate the effectiveness of the technology.
- Attendees with receive access to a flowchart explaining the process, a rubric to evaluate digital content, and questions to ask in committees and to vendors.
- Additionally, attendees will leave with a basic knowledge of how learning science principles can validate technology purchases or help to eliminate non-impactful technology.

Outline

We will start the session by asking questions like, how do you evaluate tech now? How do you know technology is making a difference? What evidence do you have that this technology is making an impact before you renew your contract again? Then we will talk about the process that we have created and implemented over the past six years. We will ask attendees to get into small groups and go over the flow chart and determine how this process can fit into their school districts
