Participants will know the purpose for creating a mobile makerspace. They will also know the process to create a process for creating and maintaining a mobile makerspace program, including researching and vetting materials, setting up kits, distribution to schools, development of educators to build capacity and marketing the program for sustainability.
Through the poster session we intend to share a presentation which showcases the items included in Parkway’s mobile makerspace along with the website created to market the mobile makerspace program. We will also share the mobile makerspace request form used to manage the scheduling and distribution of the kits along with the user guides created to develop and support librarians and teachers in the use of the makerspace kits.
Parkway School District's Mobile Makerspace program was featured in the National Education Technology Plan updated in January 2017. (page 51) It was recognized as an example of Leadership-Creating a Culture and Conditions for Innovation and Change in the area of Budgeting and Funding for the Transition to Digital Learning
