Session description

Explore Microsoft Teams as a learning environment where educators can create inclusive and accessible activities for their learners. The Immersive Reader, Reading Progress/Coach, Flip, Presenter in PowerPoint are some tools that will be showcased to demonstrate activities that allow multilingual learners to develop their language skills.

Purpose & objective

The purpose of this presentation is to expose participants to some of the digital tools that can be used to make learning more accessible and inclusive for multilingual learners. Demonstrations of these tools will offer examples of how they can be used. Some of the tools include the Immersive Reader, Reading Progress, Microsoft Flip, and Microsoft Translator. The presentation will be delivered through PowerPoint using Presenter and Presenter Live features. Participants will be able to see subtitles in the language of their choosing during the presentation. Subtitles are one of the ways that educators can empower MLLs during the learning process. The objective of the presentation is to offer tools, ideas and resources to the participants that will aid them when working with MLLs. Often educators feel overwhelmed when working with these students. Participants will leave with numerous resources that they can use in their classes as well as with a connection to an MLL contact who they can turn to when they need help in the future.
